About Us
Biobloom Farm & Apothecary is a small herbal farm and botanical sanctuary located along the Au Sable River in the Adirondacks of New York State. Founded in 2022 by Briana Brasch and Jonathan Leff, the farm focuses on growing, tending, and transforming medicinal plants into small-batch, whole-plant remedies.
Rooted in ecological stewardship, Biobloom models its work after the natural systems it depends on, cultivating medicinal plants with care, honoring traditional herbal knowledge, and protecting the biodiversity of the land. Their mission is simple: to grow high-quality plant medicine while nurturing a healthy landscape for people, pollinators, and future generations.
Briana’s work is grounded in over a decade of hands-on agricultural experience. Before founding Biobloom, she has more than ten years experience working on organic vegetable farms, biodynamic operations, and small-scale permaculture projects. These years shaped her understanding of soil health, ecosystem balance, and the integrity required to grow medicinal plants from seed to product.
Her formal herbal education includes more than five years of focused study. She trained through the Medicine Making Course and Immersion Program at the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine, where she studied with Juliet Blankespoor and other inspiring teachers, building a deep, hands-on foundation in herbal therapeutics, medicine making, and plant cultivation. She has continued her education through additional training, including Kami McBride’s Herbal Body Oil Course and 7Song’s Herbal First Aid Course, with ongoing work toward becoming a Registered Herbalist (RH) through the American Herbalists Guild.
Alongside formal training, Briana has spent thousands of hours learning in the field and through extensive reading. Influential authors such as Stephen Buhner, James Green, Ann Harman, and Suzanne Catty have shaped her understanding of herbal energetics, hydrosols, and practical medicine making. Her approach blends research-based herbalism with the grounded knowledge that comes from tending plants daily.
At Biobloom, Briana’s background in farming, herbal study, and product formulation comes together in small-batch remedies crafted with respect for the plants and the land they grow on.
Jonathan brings a multidisciplinary understanding of the natural world to Biobloom. He holds a degree in Earth Sciences, with a focus in ecology, geology, geography, and environmental systems. His academic background gives the farm a strong foundation in ecological processes, watershed awareness, and land stewardship.
In addition to his scientific training, Jonathan has experience in small-scale agriculture, organic vegetable production, and landscape design. He specializes in building botanical garden spaces—planning, designing, and constructing the infrastructure that supports Biobloom’s growing operations.
Jonathan’s approach blends ecological knowledge with practical farm experience. Whether he’s designing a new garden bed, improving soil structure, or managing irrigation systems, his work is centered on creating resilient growing environments where medicinal plants can thrive.
Together, Briana and Jonathan steward the land, grow dozens of medicinal plant species, and craft herbal formulas in small batches using whole-plant preparations. Their offerings reflect:
Ecological growing practices
Thoughtful research and herbal education
Respect for the plants and the land they come from
Commitment to quality and transparency
Biobloom Farm & Apothecary continues to evolve as a living, working landscape, one where plants, people, and the environment are cared for with intention.
